The former Liverpool ace has revealed that he always dreamt of returning to Amsterdam Arena in his career, while explaining the reason behind signing only a one-year contract.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/TSG-1899-Hoffenheim-c40767, but the Bundesliga outfit terminated his contract following his far from pleasing performances
during his one-and-a-half season stay at Rhein-Neckar-Arena.
“I'm very pleased to be back at Ajax, the club where it all started for me. It was definitely a dream to return to the club one day”, Babel was quoted as saying to FIFA.com.
The talented attacker put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2013, and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 ace has explained the reasons behind signing only a one-year deal.
“I’ve signed a one-year deal because I've analysed the past and seen that long contracts can disable you from making a decision if you want to make one. If I have a good year and Ajax are satisfied with me, we can always discuss
a longer stay”, Babel added.
The Amsterdam giants have managed to lift two back-to-back Eredivisie titles in the past two seasons, and the 25-year-old has stressed that his side has a good chance of making it three in a row this time around.
“Ajax have won the title the last two seasons and this season again we have a good squad to compete. I'm confident we can be competition for the other teams as well”, Babel concluded.
The Dutch striker, who came through the ranks of De Joden’s youth academy, represented the Amsterdammers in 73 games during his three years stay at Amsterdam Arena before moving to Liverpool in the summer of 2007.
After playing close to 100 English Premier League matches, the promising Dutchman opted to leave the Reds to join Hoffenheim half-way through the 2011/12 season. However, the attacker failed to live up to expectations in the German
top flight, netting only five goals in 46 games.
The German club decided to terminate his contract following his abysmal performances, and the 25-year-old returned to the club where he made his professional debut back in 2004/05 campaign.
