Ryan Bader: I will not allow Quinton Jackson to manhandle me – UFC news
Ryan Bader, former Ultimate Fighter light heavyweight champion, in a recent interview stated that he would not allow his UFC 144 opponent Quinton Jackson to throw him here and there in the octagon like deadweight. He further said he knows how to resist and
put up a great fight by countering his opponent's moves.
Ryan and Quinton are scheduled to feature in the co-main event of UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson pay-per-view. The special edition, which will take place in Japan after 11 years, will be held at the Saitama Super Arena on February 25, 2012.
Quinton heavily overshadows Ryan, infamous as Darth, when it comes to experience. Ryan has been in a total 15 brawls, winning 13 of them. He has collected six of his wins by knockout, three by submission, and four by unanimous decision. Last year, 2011,
was a bit troublesome for the 28-year-old light heavyweight.
Bader fought Jon Jones and Tito Ortiz in 2011 and lost to both interestingly with the same guillotine choke. Despite of a bad 2011, the young fighter kicked off 2012 by collecting a knockout win over Jason Brilz.
Jackson, well known as Rampage, has entered the octagon for 41 times. He has collected 32 wins and 9 losses. His wins include 14 by knockout, seven by submission, and 11 by decision. Bader, while bashing critics, said that he would not be squashed by the
Rampage as predicted.
Ryan commented, “If he thinks he's just going to come in there and pick me up and slam me, that's just not going to happen.”
He added, “It feels a lot better. And (we do) game planning down to the minute – drilling it and bringing it in training. That's a big thing that I've learned. I've felt like I've grown more in these last four months than I have in the last four years.”
Ryan will face the toughest test of his career and will try to not only survive but nail the rampaging Jackson who is famous for his raged, brutal, and straight assault. The pay-per-view will be an extended four-hour edition consisting of seven main card
and five preliminary card brawls.
