Ryan Bader: I will not let Lyoto Machida get comfortable in the octagon – UFC News
Ryan Bader has said that he will not let the former UFC champion Lyoto Machida get comfortable in the octagon.
He added that he is ready to counter Lyoto’s each and every move.
When asked as to what his game plan will comprise of, the American ‘Darth’ stated, “Don’t let him get comfortable. If he gets comfortable, then he starts opening up. Obviously, some takedowns would be nice. Watch out for his tricky stuff and be prepared,
know what’s coming. Know how to counter it or what to do with it.”
Bader is scheduled to take on Machida in a non-title bout which will co-headline UFC on FOX 4 pay-per-view. The duo will met at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, United States. The main fight card will be headlined by the non-title bout between Brandon
Vera and Mauricio Rua.
Ryan, Machida and the other two light heavyweights have been tangled by the UFC president Dana White into a very unique and somewhat interesting scenario. Both bouts between above mentioned four men will be title-eliminator.
However, only one man will progress to take on the winner of Jon Jones and Dan Henderson bout and the criterion for it is a bit tough. As per Dana’s announcement he and the fans do not only need a simple win in fact the UFC universe wants an authoritative
and dominating win from the man who is willing to have a UFC light heavyweight title shot.
The task is quite an uphill one and has totally fired up the whole scenario between the fighters. Bader, while sharing his thoughts about his clash with a former world champion commented, “We definitely were excited about the opportunity. It gets me one
step closer to where I wanna be. I'm getting these guys coming off of title shots, so if I beat a couple of them, hopefully I'll get my shot. For us, it's a huge fight. It's on FOX. It doesn't get any bigger.”
The bout with Machida is definitely a milestone moment for Ryan, 29, who will enter his career’s 17th mixed martial art bout. The young Arizona lad is coming off a two bout win streak.
Bader showed his supreme form by collecting an impressive unanimous decision win over former champion Quinton Jackson. It is this reason, why a second consecutive bout with another former world champion (Machida) is of utmost importance for the knockout
specialist.
