Ryan Bader confused over Dana White’s criteria for selecting the number one contender – UFC News
Dana White’s recent criteria for selecting the number one contender for Jon Jones has left many startled. Ryan Bader is the one who has shown his reservations towards White’s decision, calling it confusing.
However, even though amidst bedlam, Bader has promised fans that he will not let it affect his performance against Lyoto Machida at UFC on Fox 4.
Bader, who successful won ‘The Ultimate Fighter 8’ tourney, stated, “Say one fighter goes out there and knocks him out in 10 seconds. Is that more impressive than you looked great the whole fight? Was it a decision? You looked amazing…and you got to see
three rounds?”
The 29-year-old admitted that the title contention scenario is in the back of his mind, but there is  ambiguity in the criterion that has left him with no choice but ‘to just go out there and do his thing’.
Ryan will co-headline UFC on Fox 4 pay-per-view against Lyoto Machida in an attempt to secure the number one contender spot.
Also known as ‘Darth’, Bader is coming off an impressive unanimous decision win over former world champion Quinton Jackson.
Ryan recently made a comeback on the win streak after collecting two consecutive losses from division’s top-notch men Tito Ortiz and Jon Jones, the current UFC light heavyweight champion.
During the media interaction, Ryan admitted that his losses to Tito and Jones have enabled him to rectify his owns fallacies and mistakes.
When asked as to what he thinks about Lyoto, Ryan commented that Machida has this ability to make you believe that you are safe in the octagon, adding that the moment you lose your sight he is going to pin you.
Bader praised ‘The Brazilian Dragon’ and commented, “He’s so versed in different stuff, you have to stay sharp in your mind. He gets people to play into his game plan. He kind of lulls people into their own false sense of security. The moment you let your
mind go a little bit, he's going to be on you.”
Ryan seems to have no pressure of any sort over his mind regarding the fact that the bout is a title eliminator in fact he is perfectly focussed on grabbing a win over Lyoto Machida.
It is this reason why Ryan, without any excitement, remarked that whether the bout is a title eliminator or not he needs to work hard and must nail Lyoto as it will only aid him in solidifying his place in the division.
