Ryan Bader knocks out Jason Brilz in 77 minutes to win the bout at UFC 139 – MMA News
Ryan Bader was swift in knocking out Jason Brilz in their fight on November 19, 2011. Their Light Heavyweight bout, featured at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event UFC 139, ended in seventy-seven seconds as Bader won
the fight through a knockout punch to beat Brilz.
Bader, the 28-year old American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter lost his last two matches via submission. He lost to Jon Jones at the UFC 126 event in February 2011 and then to Tito Ortiz at UFC 132 in July 2011. He could not
afford a third consecutive loss for these two defeats were the only one in his MMA career. Brilz , nicknamed The Hitman, on the other hand, also came into the match with two losses. He lost at UFC 114 against Brazilian Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in May 2010.
His second loss came in his next fight against Belarusian Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 129 in April 2011.
The two fighters kept themselves at a distance from one another and did not create any sort of proximity. They were well aware that any closeness would mean the opponent would strike and take a lead. Both fighters also stayed in
the centre of the octagonal ring and avoided going in the corners. Both players had a similar kind of a strategy. They tried to stay in the open, remained on their feet and avoided any grappling manoeuvres from their opponents. Brilz started throwing his punches
in an attempt to give some blow to his opponent.
Neither of the fighters used their knees or feet to strike on their opponent, they were just using their punches while remaining on a vertical stance. The two fighters were not in a hurry to win the fight for they were taking
time to search for an opportunity to start their attack. They did throw their punches but it did not create that much of an impact, as they could not connect with force.
When it seemed as if the fighters would take a few more seconds to adjust themselves in the fight, Bader stood firmly as he hit Brilz with an uppercut. The shot was so sudden that Brilz could not calculate his next move and Bader
utilized his opponent’s lack of focus. Bader took the opportunity, as it was the right time to go for the kill. He planted a strong right punch just near Brilz’s ear. The impact was what Bader needed as Brilz went down and could not get back on his feet.
