Ryan Braun intends to appeal after failed drug test – MLB News

The Milwaukee Brewers’ left-fielder Ryan Braun’s lawyer David Cornwell said on Tuesday, December 13 that any report that his client used performance-enhancing drug is wrong. Ryan Braun is also reportedly considering appealing his case.
In effect, he will be the first player to attempt overturning the positive test. However, it will certainly not come easy. Facing a panel of three-persons next month, Ryan Braun will try to strongly fight case as he has previously dismissed the report as
“B.S.”.
While all the speculations and rumours make rounds, the Major League Baseball Player Association executive director Michael Weiner cautioned against rushing to judgement, as the player has the right to challenge the positive test result.
"Our Joint Drug Agreement is designed to protect a player from a rush to judgment before he can challenge a reported positive test result. Fairness dictates that Ryan Braun be treated no differently. I urge all to reserve judgment on this matter until the
JDA's process has played itself out."
Provided the decision stays unchanged, Ryan Braun faces suspension of 50 games. To avoid that, he will surely make robust arguments to prove his innocence. Like said earlier, he will face a three-person panel once it starts the hearing next month.
Comprising the panel will be a representative from Commissioner’s Office, the MLB arbitrator Shyam Das with a representative from the Major League Baseball Players Association.
It was also reported only recently by a source that what Ryan Braun used was not a PED, drug or steroid of any kind. Since none of these is used, as the source has claimed, it is a bit of a surprise that the result has been of this kind.
Whatever the fact and whatever the end result, what is known is that a lot of things are at stake here both for the Milwaukee Brewers and especially Ryan Braun.
The Milwaukee Brewers already have their slugger Prince Fielder as a free-agent and if the test results remains the same, Braun will miss a major portion of the next season which will certainly create a huge problem for the team.
