Ryan Braun sparks as Milwaukee Brewers defeat Chicago Cubs 4-2 - MLB Update

Milwaukee Brewers’ left-fielder, Ryan Braun was impressive with the bat as he posted two runs with two RBIs and went 3-for-4 with an average of .328 in the Brewers’ 4-2 victory against the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park, Milwaukee on July 28.
The Cubs added one run at the top of the first inning when Aramis Ramirez hit a sacrifice fly towards right-field and Tony Campana scored a single run. On the other side, the Brewers contributed two runs on the score-board to take a 2-1 lead. Casey McGehee
hit a sacrifice fly to centre-field and Nyjer Morgan posted a single run. The second run was taken by Braun when Yuniesky Betancourt doubled to deep left-centre.
Prince Fielder was thrown out at home plate during the first inning. Second inning remained empty as the batters were grounded out on their wobbly shots. Geovany Soto singled to right-field but Alfonso Soriano struck-out swinging, Randy Wells popped out
to short-stop position and Campana grounded out to second base at the top of the second inning.
For the Brewers, Shaun Marcum drove a single-run shot towards centre-field while Jonathan Lucroy and Corey Hart flied out to centre-field. Craig Counsell grounded out to second base at the bottom of the second inning. Braun struck a solo homer (421 feet)
towards right-centre during the third inning to raise the Brewers’ lead 3-1.
The pitchers got an edge in the fourth inning and limited the scoring shots of the batters. Marcum had four strike-outs in his six inning pitches and gave up two earned runs with an ERA of 3.33. He permitted seven hits and two runs with only one walk on
his 105 pitches.
During the fifth inning, the Brewers extended their lead 4-1 when Braun drove a double-run shot towards deep centre-field and Morgan posted a single run. The Cubs were able to add only one run in the sixth inning to cut their deficit 4-2. Carlos Pena contributed
the final run of the game when Soriano hit a double-run shot to deep left-field.
In the last three innings, the pitchers were on the peak due to their remarkable throwing. After this impressive victory, the Brewers swept the Cubs 3-0 in the three-game series played at Miller Park.
