Ryan Braun’s homer helps Milwaukee Brewers defeat Minnesota Twins 6-2 – MLB Update
Milwaukee Brewers’ left-fielder, Ryan Braun had a notable day as he went 1-for-4 with an average of .308 and hit a solo homer in the Brewers’ 6-2 win against the Minnesota Twins at Miller Park, Milwaukee on June 26.
The Brewers swept the Twins 3-0 in a three-game series at Milwaukee.
In the first inning, Ben Revere was struck-out looking and Michael Cuddyer grounded out to pitcher at the top of the first while Rickie Weeks was struck-out swinging and Nyjer Morgan popped out to short-stop at the bottom of the first inning.
The Twins got off to a quick start and scored one run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead when Jason Repko singled to left-field spot and Danny Valencia posted a single run. During the third and fourth inning of the game, the batters seemed immobilised
as they did not take any run.
Chris Narveson pitched just over six innings with an ERA of 4.42 and gave away two runs on five hits including two earned runs. He struck-out seven batters and allowed two walks on his 108 pitches. The Brewers scored three runs and went ahead 3-1 in the
fifth inning.
Jonathan Lucroy scored one run on the single-run shot of Morgan towards right-centre and the game was tied. However, Braun struck a tie-breaking homer (409 feet) to centre-field and Morgan added one run to end the three-run campaign. The Brewers contributed
two runs in the sixth inning to extend their lead 5-1.
Braun commented on the game and said, “I don't think we ever lost confidence in any way. You just continue to go out there and continue to compete. But if we continue to go out there and play the same way we're going to win a lot of games.”
Lucroy doubled to deep centre-field and Yuniesky Betancourt added his first run. The second run during the sixth inning was taken by Lucroy when Narveson drove a double-run shot towards deep left-field. In the seventh inning, both teams scored one run to
advance their score-cards 6-2.
Jim Thome singled to left-centre and Luke Hughes scored a single run at the top of the seventh. On the other hand, Braun added the last run at the bottom of the seventh inning when Prince Fielder drove towards right-centre.
