Ryan Braun’s name removed from Milwaukee Brewers weekend fan-fest – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers moved on Wednesday, January 25, to announce a decision that at best, was unexpected. The team management took out Ryan Braun’s name from the list for the weekend fan-fest for reasons related to the pending suspension appeal.
Faced with the 50-game suspension after the failed drug test, the Milwaukee Brewers’ outfielder had filed an appeal. The suspension comes under Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program and he may be the first player to make a successful
appeal.
But while he has yet to get that cleared, Wednesday’s decision by the team management to remove his name from the list is a surprising development. However, like stated earlier, the Milwaukee Brewers cite his ongoing appeal as the main reason for this.
The statement was released to the press on Wednesday by the principal owner of the team, Mark Attanasio. He, nonetheless, appealed for understanding and patience.
"In working through the logistics of this weekend's Brewers on Deck event in Milwaukee with Ryan Braun -- and knowing how much he enjoys interacting candidly with Brewers fans -- we came to the conclusion that this is too sensitive of a time in the confidential
process for him to attend this year," Attanasio said. "I speak for everyone at the Brewers, including Ryan, in thanking our fans for their understanding and patience."
The decision on Ryan Braun shall take at least 25 days before it is formally announced. However, the duration may lengthen, depending largely on how the three-person jury goes about it. There has been emphasis on the confidentiality of it.
This might well be the reason why the Brewers’ management decided to go for the removal of Ryan Braun’s name at this point in time. As for Braun’s reaction, there was no word about it yet.
However, when he made his appearance after weeks on Saturday, he was calm and poised. Braun delivered a speech which did not betray any indignation. He talked about adversities and opportunities that life presents.
Ryan Braun, from that speech, made it clear that he took adversity as opportunity. It will be interesting to see how the Brewers go about their business until news of the appeal is announced.
