Ryan Braun’s three run homer helps Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Houston Astros 14-7 – MLB Update
Milwaukee Brewers’ left-fielder Ryan Braun played a dominant role from the front by hitting a three-run homer in the Brewers 14-7 win over the Houston Astros at Miller Park in Milwaukee on April 22.
Braun expressed his excitement as, "I had no idea how to respond. I really didn't know what to do. I was trying not to get too emotional, I didn't want to take away from my routine of the at-bat and I didn't want to disrespect the other team. But it was
incredible, absolutely amazing."
It was the first amusement of Braun in the Brewers’ roster as he inked a $105 million agreement for 10 years before the start of game. The extension in his contract took place due to his performance in the training session and will be up to 2020. He had
hitting average of .382 during this year, which is considered to be a superb achievement.
Braun was tensed at the start due to his initial game, but felt relieved after scoring the runs. The first shot of Braun went to the Brewers’ bull-pen towards the left-field position where he took runs and led off the team 4-2. Braun started well in his
Major League debut and attained the bases safely which was the second longest streak after Paul Molitor. He made two runs on three hits including three RBIs.
Carlos Gomez scored a three run-shot while the Brewers’ star Yovani Gallardo shined by hitting a single homer against the Astros’ starter Nelson Figueroa. With that homer, the Brewers took a lead to 5-3. Gallardo supported the Brewers by restricting the
rivals to a low score. He allowed four runs on eight hits in six inning pitches and struck-out seven batters.
The Brewers’ Manager Ron Roenicke had a big ovation for his roster. He said, “That's very important, to score a lot of different innings instead of just having that one big inning where you score five runs or something. When I talk about consistently being
good offensively, that's what I'm talking about.”
Yuniesky Betancourt extended the lead to 7-4 by sliding two runs in the fifth inning when the Astros’ third baseman Matt Downs had an error of not getting the throw cleanly. Casey McGehee also contributed by taking a double with the bases loaded.
On the other side, the Astros’ Manager Brad Mills encouraged their players to do a better job for the next games. He said, “It was good to see the guys keep battling, even though they got down. They kept fighting.”
The Astros’ relievers were also expensive with the ball and gave runs on continuous intervals.
