Ryan Braun’s triple RBIs help Milwaukee Brewers nip Arizona Diamondbacks 9-4 – MLB Playoffs
Milwaukee Brewers’ left-fielder, Ryan Braun was superb with the bat as he struck three RBIs including two runs and went 3-for-4 with an average of .750 in the Brewers’ 9-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 2 of the five game playoff series at
Miller Park, Milwaukee on October 2.
Brewers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when the batters posted two runs. Braun struck a solo homer (436 feet) to centre-field and Corey Hart scored a single run. On the other side, Diamondbacks’ batters added one run to cut their deficit 2-1 during
second inning. Paul Goldschmidt hit a one-run homer (393 feet) towards right-field to keep his team alive.
At the bottom of the third, Brewers contributed two runs to extend their lead 4-1. Braun scored one run when Prince Fielder singled off centre-field. The second run during the third inning was taken by Fielder when Rickie Weeks drove a triple-run shot towards
deep centre-field. Diamondbacks again scored just one run in the fourth inning to reduce their lead 4-2.
Chris Young hit a solo homer (419 feet) towards centre-field to lift the potential of the Diamondbacks. In the fifth inning, the game was tied 4-4 when the batters scored two crucial runs for the Diamondbacks. Justin Upton struck a two-run homer (398 feet)
towards left-field and Aaron Hill posted a tie run.
In the sixth inning, Brewers smashed five quick runs to take a convincing 9-4 lead. Jonathan Lucroy sacrificed into fielder’s choice to pitcher and Jerry Hairston Jr. scored the leading run for Milwaukee. The second run was taken by Yuniesky Betancourt when
Hart bunted a sloppy drive towards centre-field. Lucroy and Mark Kotsay both added two collective runs when Nyjer Morgan singled off centre-field.
The final run for the Brewers was taken by Hart when Braun hit a drive to centre-field. Morgan occupied second base to end the sixth inning. Zack Greinke was little bit shaky with the ball as he pitched his five innings with an ERA of 7.20 and struck-out
seven batters. He permitted four runs, eight hits, three home-runs and four earned runs on his 86 pitches.
At the top of the eighth, Goldschmidt walked and Young singled to left-field but Ryan Roberts and Geoff Blum both struck-out without scoring even a single run. However, the Brewers confirmed a 2-0 lead after defeating the Diamondbacks comfortably.
