Ryan Chew, Kyle Emerick beat William Cabrera, Freddy Lopez in Pan Am Badminton Championships
Men’s Doubles partners Ryan Chew and Kyle Emerick showed superb coordination and overwhelmed William Cabrera-Freddy Lopez in XVII Pan Am Badminton Championships Team Event on October 8, 2012.
This was a group B match between USA and Dominican Republic which was staged in local badminton arena of Lima, Peru.
Though, this 23-minute encounter ended in just two games but still both teams entertained the crowd while putting final margin of 26-24 and 21-12.
The battle heated up straight away in the opening game as both contenders played their heart out to establish an early lead in match score position.
However, the US campaigners showed strong character in pressure situation and served notice of their supremacy in both games.
In first set of the match, Ryan and Kyle took some time to get settled but they never looked back after gaining the required momentum.
They started by losing few back-to-back rallies and remained at the lower end until the announcement of break.
The partnership of William and Freddy made the best out of their rivals’ blunders and placed a mountainous total of 11. They were enjoying the upper hand when a couple of fatal mistakes triggered the collapse.
Meanwhile, Ryan and Kyle bounced back with a strong reply and levelled the score in third quarter of the set.
Both contenders challenged each other and made the crowd gasp with their breath-taking performance.
This cliff-hanging game ended when the US shuttlers pocketed ending two points in decisive margin of 26-24.
The second set proved a one-sided affair as Ryan and Kyle did not provide their opponents even a single opportunity to comeback.
This time they played with an authoritative approach and dominated overall pace of the rallies all the way to game point situation.
On the other hand, William and Freddy failed to forge a fruitful chemistry and knelt down after receiving a 0-2 defeat.
In the beginning, Ryan and Kyle kept a low profile but they stunned their competitors with a brisk attack after couple of establishing rallies.
They gathered valuable points at steady pace and cruised to victory with a significant lead in 21-12 score.
