Ryan Cochrane captures Men’s 1500m freestyle gold – Swimming News
Ryan Cochrane of Island Swimming captured a gold medal in the Men’s 1500m freestyle on the opening day of the 2013 CA TYR Fran Crippen Memorial in Mission Viejo Nadadores, California on Thursday, June 6.
The 24-year-old Cochrane showed no mercy to his opponents in the distant freestyle discipline as he cruised his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his notable efforts, he stayed in a considerable lead over his supporters and tapped the wall for gold medal by touching the wall with an effort of 15 minutes and 03.14 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Mack Horton of Australia, who was nearly 13 seconds slower from his former finisher and concluded his race in a time of 15 minutes and 16.64 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Janardan Burns of Mission Viejo-CA, who was almost 11 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 15 minutes and 27.19 seconds
for bronze medal.
The third fastest swimmer was followed by David T Heron of Mission Viejo-CA, who stayed almost eight seconds behind and touched the wall with the timing of 15 minutes and 35.53 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by A Perez-Vertti of Mission Viejo-CA, who was two seconds apart and concluded his swim in a time of 15 minutes and 37.43 seconds.
Perez-Vertti was followed by Dan J O’Connor of Mission Viejo-CA, who was two and a half body length slower and clocked an effort of 15 minutes and 40.09 seconds.
Seventh spot of the event was obtained by O’Connor’s teammate, Nick C Norman, who was 4.48 seconds behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 15 minutes and 44.57 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was secured by Eric Hedlin of Island Swimming, who was prominently apart and surfaced on the wall with the timing of 15 minutes and 48.20 seconds.
In addition, Cochrane expressed happiness over his victory in the race while the position holders were called upon the medal rostrum for medals and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony after the race.
