Ryan Coyne vs. Guillermo Jones WBA cruiserweight title bout cancelled – Boxing news
The upcoming World Boxing Association fight between Ryan Coyne and Guillermo Jones has been cancelled due to Jones’ injury that he suffered during a practice session recently.
The bout between both the pugilists was expected to take place this Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Family Arena.
Talking about his fight Coyne said, “I was absolutely dejected when I heard about it, I was shocked. I left my home, trained like a demon for eight weeks and was ready to do something great. Through no fault of my own, it's not going to happen on Saturday,
but I still think it can happen this year.”
Jones has been suggested to take bed rest by the doctors. The two fighters will be face to face again when Jones will be permitted to start his training again. However, it can take a long time for Jones to recover and Coyne has to wait for months to get
a title shot.
However, the next possible opponent of Coyne has been chosen in replacement of Jones. The 28-year-old cruiserweight contender, Coyne of America will now be facing another contender of cruiserweight division, Devon Alexander on Saturday at the same venue.
Ryan ‘The Irish Outlaw’ Coyne spoke to the press talking about his next selected opponent and said, “Obviously I'm not fighting a fighter the caliber of Jones, this guy is undefeated, he's got nothing to lose, all the pressure is on me. I can't look past
him for one second. I'm a professional and whoever is on the other side is going down.”
Coyne after cancellation of his title bout said he sacrificed a lot in an effort to win that title bout. However, things do not always pan out in the way one desires for. Coyne believes what he has done already, the future results will be in his favour.
Let’s see if that happens for him or not.
