Ryan Day hopes for a better performance in PTC and Australian Goldfields Open: 2011-12 Snooker Season
Welshman, Ryan Day had two difficult seasons before 2011 as he couldn't create any memorable moments for himself. However, as the 2011-12 Snooker Season begins with the commencement of Players Tour
Championship (PTC) Event 1 and the first major ranking event in Australia, 2011 Australian Goldfields Open, the world number 28 hopes for a better performance this time.
31-year-old Day did not enjoy a convincing last season as he faced several first round exits, especially in the PTC's, along with a qualifier defeat at the World Open 2010. He could clinch only a
single low-ranking title of Snooker Championship League Group Five. However, the Dynamite is now hopeful for a good outcome in the upcoming season.
While speaking to the local media, the Pontycymer potter said, "It's a fresh start for me now and, hopefully, I can put the last couple of years behind me."
The new snooker season starts with the commencement of the first event of PTC on Saturday, June 18 at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. Day has been practising for the event for a couple of
weeks now and is determined to play well. He will meet World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) qualifier, Simon Bedford, in the third round on Monday, June 20.
The Welshman told the local media about his preparation of the PTC's, "I've been practising pretty solid in the last couple of weeks before this first PTC next week. I just need to keep the momentum
from the end of last season going and play more consistently well."
After the PTC's, Day is also looking forward to go to Australia to participate in the Australian Goldfields Open 2011, the first ever major ranking event in Australia, at Bendigo Stadium in Melbourne
in July. He will be playing his qualifier for the event on June 30.
He told the reporters, "It would be nice to get through to that tournament. The only problem is the flight. I've never been to Australia before so it would be great to qualify for a new event like
that."
Day has to work really hard to make it to the world’s Top-16 and the new snooker season can provide him with a lot of opportunities to cope with his low performance in the last two seasons.
