Ryan Day outplays Jimmy White in last 32 of the 2011 Welsh Open – Snooker news
The homeboy Ryan Day has totally outplayed the Whirlwind Jimmy White in the 2011 Welsh Open by a frame score of 4-0.
After the first frame’s break-off, Jimmy got a chance and was first among the reds but he could not do much damage and made a break of 22 before playing safe in his first visit to the table. Ryan Day potted terrific long red and showed some other sparkling
long pots. He rolled in 40 points leaving Jimmy in snookers and took the opening frame 1-0.
In the second frame, Jimmy played a sloppy safety shot and was punished by his opponent. Day upon getting a chance superbly opened up the reds from the black and after showing some super little cannons made an excellent break of 125 leading Jimmy ahead
by 2-0.
Jimmy hardly got any chance in the second frame and in the third frame, he again messed up a shocking safety that clattered against the blue. Day coming back on the table potted a black where he was found lucky as it wobbled a bit before deciding to
drop in, but he took full advantage of it and racked up a break of 68 to take the third frame as well 3-0.
Jimmy’s fans were a bit disappointed with the way he was played and now Ryan Day only needed one frame to secure his place in the last 16.
The homeboy Ryan Day was fully confident now leading Jimmy by three frames and in the fourth frame, which also was the deciding frame for Day, on getting a chance he made the second century of the match at 102 before finally missing a red wrapping
it all up.
People were happy to see Jimmy coming back on the television but it came out as a one-man show. Ryan Day completely trounced Jimmy White in the last 32 match which lasted less than 1 hour making his place in the last 16 where he is going to play against
‘The Rocket’ Ronnie O’Sullivan this Wednesday.
Ronnie is the top favourite of this tournament. He was also the most favourite player in the German Masters but he could not show up reasoning his illness which was criticised by many including the chief Berry Hearn.
However, this upcoming match between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ryan Day now promises to be a cracker.
