Ryan Dempster braces for the new season
The Chicago Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster threw 4 2/3 innings on Friday, March 30, against the Los Angeles Dodgers, presenting a strong case for his presence in the team. Dempster has also been slated for the Opening Day game against the Washington Nationals
on 5th April.
In his spell that he hurled, Dempster allowed three walks coupled with four hits. The game against the Dodgers had a lot to offer for analysis. Among other things, it ought to spell out how prepared the Cubs are for the season.
It is to be said here that the Cubs are not being considered among the favourite when it comes to the National League Central. With far more strong rivals ready to fight to dominate the league.
Despite some weaknesses and vulnerabilities that may be apparent once the season kicks off, Dempster maintains the tea, has a plan what it wants to do.
"We have a plan of what we want to do," Dempster said. "We'll go out and play the game the right way and play hard and let our talent take over. We've put in all this hard work the past six weeks and hopefully it turns into results on the field.”
For him, the flavour for success is nothing but hard work. Under the able guidance that the team has got now, there is no denial it will be able to achieve whatever goal it sets. Dempster will surely have a key role to play in attaining a lot of those objectives.
Showing much humility, Dempster says he will play the game the right way. "Hard work and playing the game at a high intensity can make up for lack of talent a lot of times. I know it has for me. I don't have much talent, but I try to work hard and play the
game the right way.”
With the game scheduled for 5th of April, there will be a lot to see. The Cubs inspire much expectation this season thanks largely to the changes they have gone through in last few months in the form of change of guard.
