Ryan Doumit all set to begin his career with Minnesota Twins – MLB Special
Ryan Doumit finally came into the Minnesota Twins with extra determination of performing well at the highest level after many offers from different Major League Baseball (MLB) teams.
His professional baseball career for some reason could not give him the recognition what he truly deserved for so many years. One particular reason that people suggest is his many injuries that have always placed him in trouble whenever his teams required
him. He has not only been injured, but he never recovered fully from these injuries.
He played his first seven years in the Pittsburgh Pirates but after becoming a free agent this offseason as his contract was expired, he decided to make his way out from the Pirates and publically mentioned that he knows his future best and for this simple
reason now is the high time to make a way forward towards better beginning with a different team.
Earlier, news came that he might be going into the Pirates again but at very last, news broke that Minnesota Twins have showed some great confidence in him and signed him for one year.
Twins’ general manager Terry Ryan officially announced his affiliation and said, “First and foremost, we consider Ryan a catcher, you know the situation last year. This is an added bonus that Ryan's athletic enough to go out and play the outfield and certainly
can DH. He does bring some pop in his bat.”
From Ryan’s prospective, he made it clear and told the media that the Twins’ management has signed Doumit for a potential backup for their players and at the same time has huge confidence that he will perform and outdo many in the coming season. He has also
stated in the past that if Doumit’s health allowed him to show the talent he possesses, he will certainly outclass many and emerge as a new player in Major League.
Now Doumit has made his way into the Twins’ roster where he will try his best to play as much as possible. The last injury cost him big time with a two month absence from the baseball field that was caused by leg weakness. His injuries list is too long to
mention but some injuries are very significant to mention as these constant injuries placed him in a very awkward position in the eye of Pittsburgh’s management.
Ryan Doumit, who played as starter in 2008 in particular, was out for three weeks. Coming in 2009 he also could not finish the season on a high note and played not many games. Later in 2010 and 2011, his career also remained plagued with injuries and his
career seemed in serious danger until the Twins’ initiative rescued him from a very uncertain situation.
His arrival in the Twins’ roster will certainly help Doumit making a new beginning with them. The entire roster of the Twins has also regarded his new affiliation in Minnesota while the management officially announced that Doumit will bring a positive change
in their franchise. Only time will tell what type of impact Doumit will have on the Twins during Spring Training and eventually the 2012 regular season.
