Ryan Feeley clinches Men’s 200m freestyle gold: Day three - 2012 Canada Swimming Cup
Ryan J Feeley of Badger Swim Club clinched gold medal of the Men’s 200m freestyle on day three of the 2012 Canada Swimming Cup in Montreal on Saturday, July 7.
The 20-year-old Feeley was involved in a neck-to-neck race with his strongest challenger Michael J Wynalda of Club Wolverine but with his continuous efforts, he managed to secure gold medal of the event.
Feeley demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the final lap of the race and edged out his closest challenger on the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 1 minute and 50.32 seconds.
The champion remained 0.01 seconds slower from his former finisher and settled on the medal rostrum for silver medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 50.33 seconds.
Third finest spot of the race was secured by Justin R Glanda of Club Wolverine, who remained one and a half body length apart and tapped the finishing blockade with the timing of 1 minute and 51.87 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Tobias Oriwol of Toronto Swim Club, who stayed 0.07 seconds away from overwhelming his foregoing finisher and appeared on the finishing end as fourth position holder with an effort of 1 minute and 51.94 seconds.
Oriwol was trailed by Hassaan Abdel-Khalik of Etobicoke Swimming, who stayed 0.04 seconds slower from his former finisher and reported a time of 1 minute and 51.98 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth finest spot of the event was secured by Blake Worsley of Team Canada, who stayed 0.31 seconds slower and clocked a timing of 1 minute and 52.29 seconds.
The 24-year-old Worsley was chased by Keegan Zanatta of Island Swimming, who proved his eligibility for seventh position of the discipline by producing a time of 1 minute and 53.12 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Ryan Cochrane of Team Canada, who remained 0.20 seconds slower and posted an effort of 1 minute and 53.32 seconds.
Feeley was overjoyed with his stupendous effort in the four-lap freestyle event and stated that he would try to make his fans proud by achieving the same at the upcoming swimming events.
