Ryan Feeley seizes Men’s 800m freestyle gold – US Open Swimming Championships
Ryan Feeley of Badger Swim Club seized gold medal of the Men’s 800m freestyle on last day of the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Saturday, August 11.
Feeley remained considerably ahead of his opponents from the start of the race. He faced no trouble from any of his challengers and sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his epic pace, he remained two body lengths ahead of his following rival and hit the finishing wall for first position with a timing of 8 minutes and 00.55 seconds.
His gold winning effort remained 1.78 seconds faster from Jack Burnell of Great Britain, who followed him on the medal rostrum for silver medal by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 02.33 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by his teammate, Matthew Johnson, who stayed 4.45 seconds slower from his former finisher and clocked a time of 8 minutes and 06.78 seconds for bronze medal.
Johnson was trailed by Enzo Vial Collet of France, who stayed one and a half body length slower from his former finisher and ended fourth in the event with a timing of 8 minutes and 07.96 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth position of the race was obtained by Keegan Zanatta of Canada, who remained 0.83 seconds apart and posted a time of 8 minutes and 08.79 seconds.
Zanatta was traced by Jan Daniec of Mission Viejo Nadadores, who stayed two strokes apart and ended sixth in the event with an effort of 8 minutes and 09.07 seconds.
Daniec was chased by Nicolas Caldwell of Sarasota YMCA Sharks, who was 0.39 seconds apart and posted a time of 8 minutes and 09.46 seconds.
Similarly, eighth position of the discipline was obtained by Caldwell’s teammate, Derek Pridemore, who remained almost one body length behind and clocked a time of 8 minutes and 10.25 seconds.
Furthermore, Feeley received a huge round of applause from the audience for his scintillating pace in the 16-lap freestyle event while he expressed his desire of accomplishing the same at superior levels of international swimming.
