Ryan Giggs Motivated By Failure
Manchester United won the English premier league 3 years in a row, from 2006 to 2009. Chelsea broke the sequence last season and stopped the red devils from becoming the first club to win 19 English league titles and also the 1st to win 4 on the trot.
Ryan Giggs, a man who has spent his entire career at Manchester United, said that he is more determined than ever to once again regain the title. He said that even at his age he strives to be the best, and the slip up at the end of the last season cost them the title. He said that failure makes him more focused on going out and getting more success. Giggs added that fame and money have never been the motivating factor for him and the thirst to win is what has kept him going for all these years.
The former Wales captain said that it still hurts that they lost the title to Chelsea by just one point last season, and it was their own fault because they did let go of some easy points throughout the course of the season.
Giggs will start his record 20th season for Manchester United, but he is still as focused and determined as he was in his first season. He said that when he played for the first time for united it was Leeds that beat them to the title. The left winger said that the loss gave him and the team the motivation to go out and do it all over again and win the league. He said that a loss like that does stay with you, even though it does haunt you at times but also gives the inspiration to play better. Giggs added that every player comes across defeats, but it is the way he can take it in his stride and use it as an inspiration to do better because that is what makes a good player a great one.
The veteran said that one can only go on for so long without motivation; he said that his manager Sir Alex who has always been there throughout his career and has been his biggest inspiration. Giggs said that the man has been there for more than 2 decades but still gets very upset after even conceding a single goal. He added that this does signify how much he cares and how much he wants to win. Giggs said that this is exactly how he had grown up at United and will continue to play like that till he hangs his boots up.
Reflecting back at his time with United, Giggs said that he has been very lucky to be part of this amazing club for so long. He added that he has played with a number of great players and learned a lot from them. Giggs said that Ferguson has never been a man to work on short term goals. He said that the manager has always tried to build a team that can go on for many years. He had been part of different generations now; the memorable team of 99 that won the treble and all the way down to the generation that saw Rooney and Ronaldo emerge as world best's.
Giggs is one of the few players in world football who have never changed their club, Giggs came into united through the youth Academy. He was part of what they called the golden Generation; the young Manchester United team that won the youth cup in England had the likes of Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and Neville brothers. All of whom made it to the senior team and played for many years with distinction. Scholes and Gary Neville are still with him in the team. Giggs said that he has never been attracted by big money offers and big name clubs, he said that he pledged his loyalty to the Red Devils as an 11 year old and it could never change. The left footer said that he could never even imagine playing for anyone but Manchester United and would end his career at Old Trafford.
