Ryan Giggs believes Manchester United will beat Chelsea if they repeat Schalke performance
Manchester United veteran http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 has claimed that they are in with a very good chance to defeat Chelsea in a potentially title deciding clash for the English Premier League title this Sunday at Old Trafford.
However, the experienced one believes that in order to beat Carlo Ancelotti’s men they must have to repeat the impressive performance which they displayed against the German outfit Schalke in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final.
United’s midfielder Giggs believes that there is a prerequisite to beat the Blues and says that all first team players who remained absent in the Schalke showdown must learn a great deal from their reserve players.
It was United’s reserve players who attracted all the limelight when they helped the Red Devils to cruise into the UEFA Champions League final by beating Schalke 4-1 in the second leg of the semi-final in the absence of key regular players.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson rested eight of his regular players to give a chance to his young fleet. It was not a bad decision to test the young battalion after going 2-0 up over Schalke in the first leg.
The victory against Chelsea will surely extend Manchester United’s English Premier League title tally to a record 19 times. On the other side, if Chelsea beat United, they would snatch the top position from the Red Devils on the basis of a better goal difference.
In case of a draw, United will still remain at the top, but Giggs has insisted that they must go for the kill to end Chelsea’s title hopes.
The 37-year-old Giggs said, “Like any game we will go out to win [on Sunday]. It will be tough because Chelsea are flying at the moment but, at home, we are confident of getting that win. We have to go out and attack, like Manchester United does at Old Trafford.
The crowd wouldn't have it any other way.”
Manchester United are themselves to blame on as they opened up the way for Chelsea to come close to them after facing away defeats against Arsenal and Newcastle United. Chelsea have bagged full 15 points from their last five league games whereas United have
earned only 10 points from a possible of 15.
Giggs further added, “http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are a very good team and they've hit a good bit of form. We knew that they wouldn't be too far behind us. Generally our form is good. We are confident we can beat any team at Old Trafford.”
It is expected that Ferguson will send his full strength in for the all-important match against the Blues as both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 will return after remaining absent against Schalke.
