Ryan Giggs believes Wayne Rooney will soon find form
Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs believes that his teammate Wayne Rooney will soon rediscover his best form.
The striker has been the subject of much media attention recently, with a flurry of allegations has surrounding his personal life. That has contributed to a poor run of form, which has seen him fall back in Sir Alex Ferguson’s plans, with Dimitar Berbatov
taking advantage to state his case, and become the club’s main striker.
Rooney has struggled to find the net on a regular basis this season, having scored just once in the five matches he has played. The forward is currently nursing an ankle injury picked up in the 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers last weekend.
However, veteran Giggs believes that the 24-year-old can soon return to the fearsome form that caused defences in the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League to quake in their boots.
He told Sky Sports News, "Wayne's obviously a quality player. The season he had last year, he was single-handedly winning games for us. There is a lot of pressure on the world class players. Wayne's certainly that. He hasn't started the season on
fire, but it's no problem. It's a long season and we can't just rely on Wayne."
Giggs added that the pressures Rooney was facing pressures which were common to top footballers, with Red Devils players’ private and professional lives constantly put under scrutiny by the media.
"It's part of parcel of being a United player. Every player has to put up with that. If you're not banging goals in every week, you're open to that criticism. Wayne started playing at 16 and you can't go throughout your career without people having a go
at you."
