Ryan Giggs picks up a hamstring injury
Ryan Giggs will be out for up to four weeks after it was confirmed that the Welsh winger picked up a hamstring injury.
The Manchester United midfielder had only just returned from the injury after spending two weeks out of action for the club.
Giggs aggravated the injury in the 2-2 draw with West Brom at the weekend. The 36-year-old was forced to come off after he felt his hamstring go on 40 minutes.
Manager Alex Ferguson said, "The loss of Ryan as a wide player was a big one for us. He has done his hamstring again."
The Manchester United manager believes that Giggs injury had a significant impact on the game.
United looked to be cruising to an easy victory over West Brom at Old Trafford, but Giggs substitution meant that Darren Gibson was called in as a replacement.
As a result, Manchester United lost their width and West Brom came back to take a point in the Premier League match.
Ferguson admitted that he will give Giggs more time to recover from the injury this time around and said, "He got it against Bolton but trained all week and had been doing very well, but it has gone again and maybe we need to give him a longer recovery."
If Giggs is out for a month he will miss a number of important games for the club.
Manchester United are due to take on Stoke City on Sunday 24 October and then face Tottenham and Wolves before they play Manchester City on Wednesday 10 November in the Manchester derby.
Giggs will hope that he can return and play some part in the match at the Manchester City Stadium in what could be a defining game in the Premier League.
Manchester United will miss Giggs and the left side of midfield is an area that they have little cover in.
