http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 – Cricket News Update
Following questions over his inclusion due to a hamstring injury, it has now been confirmed that the Australian fast bowler, Ryan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739, will be missing out on the 3rd and final Test match against Sri Lanka, scheduled to be played in Colombo,
on September 16, 2011.
The pacer’s spot will be taken over by the 26-year-old, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PM-Siddle-c2197, who will be making his 23rd Test appearance.
The Victorian fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Pattinson-c1653, was another likely candidate as Harris’s replacement; however, Siddle’s experience under the Test format surpassed the uncapped Pattinson.
As for other possible changes on the squad; http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377, comes back on the roster after his exclusion from the previous Test game at Pallekele following the birth of his child.
Ponting’s spot was initially taken over by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SE-Marsh-c2470, who marked an exceptional Test debut performance on the preceding match, which has now paved a concrete place for the batsman on the team, but will be moved a little lower on the ranks, coming in 6th
on the line-up.
However, with respect to the current affair, Siddle will have to exhibit an exceptional performance on the upcoming match, since Harris’s exclusion comes with a little worry for the Aussie Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, who would have hoped to have Harris on the
team for the 3rd and final Test match, where the outback squad will be aiming to mark a series win against the Lankan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808.
Harris’s exclusion from the upcoming fixture, set to be staged at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo, comes after a scan which revealed a minor hamstring strain, suffered by the right-armed fast bowler, soon after the preceding Pallekele match.
The 31-year-old pacer has been a real bowling asset for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 during their previous two matches against the Sri Lankan hosts, where Harris bagged an impressive pile of 11 wickets, which includes his opening fixture’s haul of 5 wickets.
As for Friday’s match, Australian pacers will have to push a little harder against the Lankan world-class batting line-up that will be aiming to make good use of the home turf against the Australian visitors.
