Ryan Howard is on the way to fast recovery as regular season approaches - MLB Update
As regular season approaches near and Philadelphia Phillies goes down the table in terms of number of losses recorded in Spring Training, fast recovery of their slugger Ryan Howard comes out as an only silver lining they can cherish.
Although still nothing is confirmed as to when he will be ready to actually make to the plate, reports are he is showing serious improvements on his infectious left Achilles tendon.
Phillies have plunged in Spring Training after they have registered their seventh loss out of total 12 games they have played. As their batters have let them down as is evident even from their today’s game against Minnesota Twins where they added only four
runs, Howard 100 percent fitness before the season is going to be a real boost for the side.
When asked from him about his season chances, he was though confident was still apprehensive of his complete fitness. He said he is doing regular exercise and driving bike while trying to examine whether his infection has healed.
"Right now, I just got cleared to do a little bit of modified stuff, so basically riding a bike, doing a little leg motion-type stuff, trying to do what I can so when I'm actually out of the boot I can hit the ground running,'' Howard said. ''I'm going to
try to stay optimistic and see what happens, but like I've said before, there's really no time limit on it."
He holds an enviable career record with .275 batting average and 286 home-runs and above all he is one of the best sluggers baseball has produced ever. Meanwhile, his record of being an only player who reached 100 and 200 home-run mark quickest in baseball
history adds another feather to his cap.
One of the biggest advantages his presence lends to his club is the kind of psychological impact he leaves on opposition. As he is known as a pull hitter, managers of opposing teams tend to shuffle their fielders quite often and thus their chances to commit
errors under this situation increase manifold.
Against the backdrop of such an incredible career record, Phillies will be looking forward to his fastest possible recovery before the season starts.
