Ryan Howard optimistic on his return – Phillies Update
The Philadelphia Phillies first-baseman Ryan Howard is showing some great optimism for his potential return before next Major League season. His repaired torn Achilles is now getting better, but the team doctors have yet to clear him for going onto the field.
Since October, Howard is in some massive pain. Some sources have earlier also speculated in the media as Howard will be coming back in the Spring Training, but due to some extra pressure and slow recovery of his late injury, his playing chances in Spring Training is questionable.
Howard’s trainer Scott Sheridan is also confident as he will return soon on the field and resume his game with full flair. Sheridan said, “The things Ryan had been doing were very good. We’re hoping we can kind of move forward from here and that it won’t push us back too much. I don't prefer to use that word (setback), I think that we never established a particular time frame for him, and right now it's one of those things that happen in the rehab process and we'll have to move forward from there.” He added, “That was our biggest concern going into this and that was one of the things during the procedure that he did confirm: The Achilles tendon is intact and not compromised.”
Howard, who is eight year- veteran having career hitting average of .275 along with 286 home-runs, 864 RBIs and .368 OBP, is certainly a great player and considered one of the best players in the Phillies franchise. Though the doctors and other physicians of the franchise are taking great care of Howard and showing optimism of his potential return ahead of next season.
Also for the Phillies and for their good results, Howard’s comeback is crucial and whenever the next season starts, his game will also determine the franchise’s standing in the League. In the meanwhile, the Phillies currently are practicing hard in Arizona for the 2012 Spring Training and sitting comfortable with a complete roster. Their enthusiasm is also high while experts believe that the Phillies will be competitive in 2012.
