Ryan Jimmo to make his UFC debut against Anthony Perosh on UFC 149 – UFC News
Ryan Jimmo, the former Maximum Fighting Championship’s light heavyweight champion, is ready to make his debut in mixed martial arts’ apex promotion organisation UFC and is scheduled to take on the Aussie light heavyweight proud Anthony Perosh, in a bout
which will take place on July 21, 2012.
The octagon for the bout will be stretched at Scotiabank Saddledome arena situated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and the night will be headlined by the epic bout between Cheick Kongo and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
The event will be co-headlined by another classic bout between Japanese Yoshihiro Akiyama and Brazilian proud Thiago Alves. The bout can be predicted as a one-sided one since Ryan does not only posses experience more than Anthony but also has a decent rather
intimidating win ratio.
In addition, Ryan is coming from a mixed martial art organisation where he not only grabbed the apex divisional gold but also defended it twice eventually catching UFC management’s attention who later on decided to bring him in the organisation.
Jimmo was originally scheduled to enter his inaugural bout on January 20, 2012 in UFC on FX 1 pay-per-view but due to an inadvertent injury he was forced to forfeit and will now enter the UFC’s brutal octagon on July 21, 2012.
Ryan, also known as ‘The Big Deal’, has been in a total 17 mixed martial art bouts and emerged victorious in 16. He has nailed six of his opponents by knockout, two by submission, and eight by either split or unanimous decision.
The Canadian 30-year-old proud basically follows a straight forward standing game and strives hard to collect a knockout win, the reason why he is a bit sluggish and somewhat poor when it comes to ground game.
His opponent, Anthony Perosh, on the contrary is a UFC veteran and has been in a total 19 bouts. Anthony, also known as ‘The Hippo’, has collected 13 wins and four of them via knockout whereas a huge nine by submission.
Perosh is undoubtedly known as one of the best submission specialist in UFC’s light heavyweight division. Moreover, he has collected wins over names such as Kym Robinson, Tom Blackledge and others.
The 39-year-old Aussie is on a three-bout win streak and up till now has just lost one of his total four bouts in UFC. The clash will be a tough one and it will definitely be a test for Ryan since he is coming from an organisation that does not have lethal
men like Anthony.
The odds are in favour of Perosh but if Ryan evades his submission attempts and capitalises the home crowd advantage he might collect his first ever UFC win.
