Jones Will be Fit
Ospreys have revealed that headaches over the fitness of captain, Ryan Jones, ahead of the new season have been calmed and dealt with.
Jones has been suffering from a bad tear to his thigh muscle but scans have shown that the injury is not as bad as everyone first thought. He has already been put on a light rehabilitation program and he should be raring to go by the time Ospreys line up for their first match of the new season.
The reason why this was such a worry for the side is the fact that Jones has such an immense influence over the team. He is a very well liked person off the field and this makes him just as popular on the field when he demands the loyalty and attention of his fellow players.
The side would be well advised to wrap him up in cotton wool and they may have feared this sort of thing would happen when he went off to play for Wales during their tour of New Zealand.
A Lift
The news will be a welcome lift to Ospreys who will be working away during the close season just like any other club. The close season can sometimes be extremely long and cause some players or members of a club to get a bit down due to bad news or simply the fact they are not training every day.
It's clear that Jones is a very important figure to the team and as captain his personal qualities are reflected both on and off the field. The fact that many thought he would be out for months would have been a hammer blow to the side. However, it can now have an opposite effect and work positively.
It's very important that Ospreys take good care of him from now until the start of the season or when pre-season training really kicks in because if they try and do too much with him too quickly then it could mean making the injury worse.
Importance
The importance of Jones being fit is so high because he will be the figure leading the side in the Magners League next season. He is a very influential captain and feared by many opposition sides. He often has a say in the way the side plays and this all would have been changed if the injury turned out to be worse.
It's important that Ospreys protect him from now until the season starts. this may cause a little bit of friction between the club and the player but the point is that this is a small price worth paying.
The medical department at Ospreys has to do all of the simple things very well and this means making sure the player has routine check ups and medical treatment. Again this could annoy Jones as he'll want to relax having got back from playing for Wales and probably in need of some time off.
Betting Advice
A fit Ryan Jones is much better than an injured Ryan Jones for Ospreys. Keep a close eye on this one because of the injury gets any worse then it will mean that the club could start the season slowly.
However, if Jones is in the team for the first game then you can expect all of the qualities that he will demand from his side and this will mean Ospreys have a better chance of doing well. If he is fit and playing well then don't be afraid to back the side in matches and to win the league.
