Ryan Jones urges Welsh team to “take confidence” into South Africa Test
Ryan Jones believes that Wales must attack and play with confidence against South Africa, if they are to defeat the Springboks in the Test match at Cardiff on Saturday 13 November.
The Welsh captain is back in the match day 22, but failed to make the starting 15. As a result, Matthew Rees retains the arm band for the Test.
Jones missed the 16-25 defeat to Australia last week as he was struggling with a calf injury.
However, the British and Irish Lion believes that Wales should be looking to bounce back against the Springboks and take  positives from the defeat to the Wallabies.
Speaking to the press, Jones said, "We should never be underdogs at home and we have to be brave and be bold, and take some confidence from last weekend's performance,”
The Ospreys' forward warned his team about South Africa’s strength and ambition.
"South Africa are world-class with some big stars, and they are coming here to win. They always have three big athletes in the back-row, and they will come and be confrontational, as any South African side normally is," said Jones.
Wales have not beaten the Springboks since 1999 and have lost the last 11 encounters with the World Champions.
However, Jones is keen to address that and hopes to play some part in guiding Wales to an overdue victory against the southern hemisphere side.
"I haven't played a lot of rugby for one reason and another this season, but as you get older that is not always a bad thing. I have been around a while now and I would like to think I can do a job,” said the Welshman.
Jones is expected to feature during the match and he could make an impact from the bench.
"I feel pretty good and confident and if I do get a chance in whatever role this weekend or next weekend, I will enjoy the occasion and take the opportunity," he added.
