Ryan Kesler gearing up for return, expected back on Vancouver Canucks line-up soon -NHL News Update
While nothing concrete can be said about when Vancouver Canucks will be getting their American All-Star, Ryan Kesler, back on their line-up, one thing for sure is that the 27-year-old who underwent hip surgery during the offseason can be expected to back sometime soon.
Practicing with the team before their match against Philadelphia Flyers, Ryan Kesler showed off some skills, but according to doctor’s, his recovery is expected to take anywhere from 10-12 weeks, and currently being the 10th week, there are not much days left.
"I don't know how he feels out there, but he looks good", teammate, Henrik Sedin, said. "He's got a good stride out there, skates hard. Should be pretty close. … We'll see. It'll take some time for him to get back to game shape. We've got to give him some time".
Vancouver Canucks goalie, Roberto Luongo, also commented on his teammates health, but regarded it as something which should be taken seriously and should not be hurried.
"Health-wise I think he's feeling pretty good", Luongo told NHL.com, about Kesler’s situation. "With an injury like that you want to make sure you're 100 percent before you come back because it's a long season and we don't want to take any chances there".
Playing all 82 games for the third straight season during 2010-2011, Kesler remains one of the most consistent players for his team and a huge contributor. Last season, Kesler potted 41 goals and 32 assists for a monumental total of 73 points and a plus-minus rating of 24 with 66 minutes in penalty time.
Drafted as the 23rd overall pick during round-one of the 2003 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft, Ryan Kesler has established himself as one of the greatest players in the major league today.
During their Stanley Cup run this year in the 2011 NHL Playoffs, Kesler remained immensely valuable for the club by potting 19 points (7 goals, 12 assists) in 25 games played.
Since there is no certain date fixed for his return, developments on the issue are expected in the upcoming days.
