Ryan Lochte and Connor Jaeger excel in Men’s events – Swimming news
Ryan Lochte of Daytona Beach and Connor Jaeger of University of Michigan excelled in the events of Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) and 800m freestyle on fifth day of the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships & World Championship Trials in Indianapolis
on Saturday, June 29.
Both swimmers lived up to the expectations of their supporters in their respective events as they reached the finishing wall for first place.
The 28-year-old Lochte devastated hopes of his opponents in the 200m discipline as he rushed his way towards the finishing wall for the title. He remained in a lead of two and a half body lengths over his following swimmer and tapped the wall for gold medal
with an effort of 1 minute and 55.44 seconds.
The champion was chased by Conor Dwyer of Una NBAC-MD, who was 2.30 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 57.74 seconds.
Third position of the event was obtained by Chase Kalisz of North Baltimore, who was 0.80 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and stepped on the finishing end for bronze medal with an effort of 1 minute and 58.52 seconds.
Kalisz was traced by Austin Surhoff of North Baltimore, who was 0.28 seconds behind and clocked a time of 1 minute and 58.80 seconds for fourth place.
Josh Prenot of California Aquatics, who was comfortably away from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 00.33 seconds, secured fifth position of the event.
Afterwards, the arena was delighted with the invincible efforts of Jaeger in the 800m discipline. He faced little competition from his following swimmer in the 800m discipline and raked the title with the timing of 7 minutes and 46.78 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Michael McBroom of Woodlands-GU, who was 0.35 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing wall for silver medal by posting an effort of 7 minutes and 47.13 seconds.
Third position of the race was obtained by Andrew Gemmell of Nation’s Capital, who was almost 10 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 7 minutes and 57.83 seconds.
Ryan Feeley of Club Wolverine-M, who ended his swim in a time of 8 minutes and 01.28 seconds, obtained fourth position of the event.
In addition, crowd appreciated scintillating forms of all participants while the position holders collected medals after the race.
