Ryan Lochte captures Men’s 200m IM gold - FINA Swimming Championships (25m)
Ryan Lochte of USA captured gold medal of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on third day of the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey, on Friday, December 14.
Lochte, who was the record holder of the eight-lap IM event, went full rampant in the playoff and proved his mettle for the title.
With his commendable pace, Lochte remained in a considerable lead over his following swimmer and shattered his own world mark with a wonderful timing of 1 minute and 49.63 seconds.
His title claiming effort remained three body lengths ahead of his following swimmer, Daiya Seto of Japan, who raked silver medal of the race by touching the wall with a nice effort of 1 minute and 52.80 seconds.
Seto was followed by Laszlo Cseh of Hungary, who was only 0.09 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 52.89 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Kenneth To of Australia, who was 0.53 seconds apart and concluded his race in a time of 1 minute and 53.42 seconds.
To was followed by Conor Dwyer of USA, who stayed 0.57 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 53.99 seconds for fifth place.
Subsequently, Dwyer remained 0.09 seconds faster from Kosuke Hagino of Japan, who remained prominent for sixth position of the race by clocking a time of 1 minute and 54.08.
Hagino was followed by Diogo Carvalho, who was 1.55 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for seventh place by producing a time of 1 minute and 55.63 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Simon Sjodin of Sweden, who stayed 0.72 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and settled on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 56.31 seconds.
In addition, Lochte was overjoyed with his gold finish in the race and articulated his desire of exceeding hopes of his supporters by accomplishing the same in forthcoming events.
