Ryan Lochte captures Men’s 400m IM gold – Swimming news
Ryan Lochte of Daytona Beach-FL captured gold medal of Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on second day of the 2013 Arena International Grand Prix at the George F. Haines International Swim Center on Saturday, June 1.
The 28-year-old Lochte, who is the Olympic gold medallist and world record holder, experienced tough competition from his opponents at the start. He remained involve in a neck-to-neck race throughout the competition but he managed
to secure the title with his commendable form in the final lap.
He remained in a lead of half body length over his following swimmer and ascended on the scorecard for gold medal with the timing of 4 minutes and 11.36 seconds.
The champion was chased by Chase Kalisz of North Baltimore, who was 0.49 seconds slower and occupied silver medal of the race by producing an effort of 4 minutes and 11.85 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Conor Dwyer of Una Gsc-FL, who was almost four seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 15.39 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Alec Page of Island Swimming, who was almost five seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 20.02 seconds.
The 19-year-old Page was chased by Josh Prenot of California Aquatics, who was three body lengths slower from upsetting his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 23.81 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth spot of the race was obtained by Adam Hinshaw of California Aquatics, who remained almost half a body length behind and concluded his race in a time of 4 minutes and 24.48 seconds.
Subsequently, Hinshaw was chased by Stephen Schmuhl of Indiana University, who suffered a deficit of 1.17 seconds from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 25.65 seconds for seventh place.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Alex Wold of Santa Clara Swim, who was full body length behind and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 26.49 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Alex Wold of Santa Clara Swim, who was only an inch behind and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 26.49 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the victory ceremony of the event.
