Ryan Lochte impresses arena at the 2011 FINA World Championships
United States’ Ryan Lochte impressed the arena at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China, last month. The World Championships were held in Shanghai from July 16-31.
Lochte secured five gold medals. He won the golden crown in the Men’s 200m back-stroke, while he secured the gold title in the 200m Individual Medley. Ryan captured his third gold medal in the Men’s 200m freestyle, whereas, he also snagged the Men’s 4x200
freestyle relay title. Finally, he secured the golden crown in the 400m IM meet.
At the beginning of the competition, Ryan Lochte produced a stunning splash in the Men’s 200m back-stroke Finale and won the golden crown with a victorious time of 1 minute and 52.96 seconds. Meanwhile, Japan’s Ryosuke Irie took home the silver medal of
the meet with a winning time of 1 minute and 54.11 seconds and Tyler Clary of United States grabbed the bronze medal with an impressive time of 1 minute and 54.69 seconds.
Ryan Lochte then took home the Men’s 200m IM crown with a winning time of 1 minute and 54.00 seconds. Stunningly, he beat his previous best time of 1 minute and 54.10 seconds, set back in 2009.
Phelps picked the silver medal on the podium by submitting a time of 1 minute and 54.16 seconds. Phelps said, “I felt good and I thought I was a little long at the finish, and that cost me the race. I'm a little disappointed but at the same time it's faster
than I went in 2008 at the Olympics, so that's a good thing.”
Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh clinched the bronze medal of the race with an impressive time of 1 minute and 57.69 seconds.
Afterwards, Ryan came out strongly in the Men’s 200m freestyle final and snared his second gold title of the championships with a sterling time of 1 minute and 44.44 seconds. While speaking about his splash, Lochte stated this scintillating victory will
definitely help him go through other vital competitions of the championships.
In the meantime, 14-time Olympic gold champion, Michael Phelps snagged the silver medal of the meet with an impressive time of 1 minute and 44.79 seconds and Biedermann snared bronze title in a time of 1 minute and 44.88 seconds.
Moreover, Lochte also won the Men’s 4x200 freestyle relay crown. In the corresponding meet, USA’s squad of Ryan Lochte, Michael Phelps, Peter Vanderkaay and Ricky Berens snared the gold medal with a winning time of 7 minutes and 2.67 seconds. France took
home the silver medal with a time of 7 minutes and 04.81 seconds, while China picked bronze in a time of 7 minutes and 05.67 seconds.
Last, but not the least, Lochte won the gold medal in the Men’s 400m IM meet by posting a record time of 4 minutes and 07.13 seconds. After the race, Lochte said, “I'm so glad this meet is over. It has been a long, long eight days. For the most part, I'm
not really happy. I mean, it's definitely great to have won five golds, but I know I can go a lot faster.”
Meanwhile, Tyler Clary snatched silver on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 4 minutes and 11.17 seconds and Yuya Horihata of Japan secured the bronze medal with a winning time of 4 minutes and 11.98 seconds.
