Ryan Lochte occupies Men’s 100m IM gold - FINA Swimming Championships (25m)
Ryan Lochte of USA occupied gold medal of the Men’s 100m Individual Medley (IM) on concluding day of the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) at Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul, Turkey, on Sunday, December 16.
Lochte, who owns the world record of 200m IM, continued his unravelling efforts in the playoff of the 100m discipline and secured gold medal.
With his notable effort, he remained marginally ahead of his toughest contender and reached the wall for gold medal with a timing of 51.21 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Australian veteran, Kenneth To, who remained 0.17 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 51.38 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by George Bovell, who stayed 0.28 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and transpired on the finishing blockade for bronze medal with the timing of 51.66 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the discipline was obtained by Peter Mankoc of Slovenia, who remained almost full body length behind and concluded his race in fourth place by touching the wall with the timing of 52.51 seconds.
Subsequently, Mankoc remained 0.12 seconds ahead of Simon Sjodin of Sweden, who remained prominent for fifth position of the race and ended his swim in a time of 52.63 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the event was obtained by Conor Dwyer of USA, who was 0.20 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and emerged on the finishing end by producing an effort of 52.83 seconds.
Dwyer was chased by Takuro Fujii of Japan, who suffered a deficit of 0.28 seconds from his foregoing finisher and appeared on the finishing wall for seventh position by touching the wall with the timing of 53.11 seconds.
Last spot of the race was secured by Daiya Seto of Japan, who was only 0.04 seconds behind and finished his race in eighth place by producing an effort of 53.15 seconds.
In addition, Lochte received huge appreciation from the audience for his commendable form in the IM event and stressed that he would continue his hard work to accomplish the same in future.
