Ryan Lochte of Daytona Beach-FL occupied gold medal of the Men’s 200m freestyle on second day of the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships & World Champ. Trials in Indianapolis on Wednesday, June 26.
The 28-year-old Lochte, who is the world record holder of the 200m Individual Medley (IM), stifled hopes of his challengers in the playoff of 200m freestyle and secured the title. With his astonishing pace, he just only won gold
medal but also booked his spot to the 2013 World Championships.
He stayed in a comfortable lead over his supporters as he raked gold medal with the timing of 1 minute and 45.97 seconds.
The champion was chased by Conor Dwyer of Una NBAC-MD, who was 0.28 seconds apart and concluded his race in a time of 1 minute and 46.25 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Matt McLean of University of Virginia Aquatics, who was 0.53 seconds apart and stepped on the finishing end for bronze medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 46.78 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the discipline was obtained by Charlie Houchin of iX3 Sports-NC, who was half a body length slower from his preceding swimmer and posted a time of 1 minute and 47.36 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Ricky Berens of Longhorn Aquatics, who was 0.07 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by producing an effort of 1 minute and 47.43 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Connor Jaeger of University of Michigan, who was 0.17 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 47.60 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Michael Klueh of Club Wolverine-M, who was 0.06 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 47.66 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Michael Wynalda of University of Michigan, who was 1.10 seconds slower and posted a time of 1 minute and 48.76 seconds.
In addition, Lochte was extremely delighted with his first finish in the race and collected medal after the race.
