Ryan Lochte secures Men’s 200m back-stroke title - 2011 FINA World Championships
United States’ Ryan Lochte impressed the arena after he won the Men’s 200m back-stroke meet on day six of the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China, on Friday, July 28.
The session of the championship conducted the Men’s 200m back-stroke final, where Lochte dominated the splash and won the gold medal with a winning time of 1 minute and 52.96 seconds. Ryan has won three gold medals in the Men’s 200m Individual Medley, along
with the 200m and 4x200m freestyle events at the current edition of the championships.
While speaking about his current form in the World Championships, Lochte claimed that he did not expect these results. He is happy with his wonderful effort in the championship.
In addition, Lochte snared six gold medals in the Men’s 200m back-stroke, 200m freestyle, 100m, 200m, 400m and 4x100 medley races at the 2010 edition of the championships, in Dubai. Moreover, he won four gold medals at the 2009 edition of the meet.
In the meantime, Ryosuke Irie of Japan secured the silver medal with an impressive time of 1 minute and 54.11 seconds. Irie has also captured the bronze medal in the Men’s 100m back-stroke splash in the current edition of the competition. While speaking
about his individual splash, Irie stated, “That was a tough swim tonight. But, I really enjoyed that race very much.”
Tyler Clary of United States of America grabbed the bronze medal with a sterling time of 1 minute and 54.69 seconds. After the race, Clary said, “I won the bronze medal, but that's not what I had expected. I feel a bit disappointed.”
In the corresponding splash, Fenglin of China earned fourth spot in a time of 1 minute and 56.39 seconds. Radoslaw Kawecki of Poland snared fifth place with a time of 1 minute and 57.33 seconds, while Stanislav Donets of Russia grabbed sixth spot with a
time of 1 minute and 57.36 seconds.
Sebastiano Ranfagni of Italy wound up seventh in a time of 1 minute and 57.49 seconds, whereas, Kazuki Watanabe of Japan earned eighth place honours with a time of 1 minute and 57.82 seconds.
