Ryan Lochte snares Men’s 100m butterfly gold – 2012 GSC Summer Invitational
Ryan S Lochte of DBS-FL snared gold medal of the Men’s 100m butterfly on final day of the 2012 Gator Swim Club Summer Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday June 5.
The 27-year-old Lochte, who upset his challengers by winning gold medal of the 100m breaststroke earlier at the championship, served notice of his talent by seizing the title of butterfly discipline.
The 200m Individual Medley world record holder, Lochte stifled hopes of his opponents by earning the crown of the 100m discipline with the timing of 54.48 seconds.
His notable effort remained 0.43 seconds faster from Joseph I Schooling of BSS-FL, who failed to withstand ruthless aggression of the champion and finished second in the event with an effort of 54.91 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Marcin Cieslak of GSC-FL, who stayed 0.34 seconds apart and secured bronze medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 55.25 seconds.
The bronze medallist remained nearly one second faster from his subsequent swimmer, Matt J Norton of UNAT, who settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by reporting a time of 56.13 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Santo Y Condorelli of BSS-FL, who was 1.16 seconds away from overpowering his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 57.29 seconds.
Condorelli was chased by Wesley Olmsted of HTA-FL, who remained prominent for sixth position of the event by producing a time of 57.66 seconds.
The 16-year-old Olmsted was chased by Thaxter C Hensley of BD-FL, who was 0.55 seconds behind his former finisher and posted a time of 58.21 seconds for seventh position.
Last spot of the discipline was secured by Ian D Apple of BSS-FL, who failed to surpass any of his competitors and ended his swim in eighth best place by posting a time of 58.59 seconds.
The arena appreciated commendable efforts of all participants in the 100m event while the position holders were awarded medals and accolades for their notable efforts after the session. In addition, the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events.
