Ryan Ludwick looks forward to ultimate glory for the Reds – MLB News
There apparently was an intersection of interests. It only had to practically manifest itself.
The emergence of the official two-year deal between the Cincinnati Reds and left fielder Ryan Ludwick, on Monday – December 10, brings with itself a satisfactory development that the fans were keeping their fingers crossed for.
Ryan Ludwick had become a free-agent after he declined a contract extension, worth $5 million, by the Cincinnati Reds. While he subsequently had some offers, he had a second thought about getting back to the Reds.
It was reciprocal. The Reds were also looking for re-signing the left fielder for the kind of performance he had exhibited throughout a relatively successful season. Becoming an important component of the Reds’ offence, Ludwick was equally solid when it
came to the defence.
Having played with the teams like the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres, with years of experience, the 34-year old player is advantageous in definite purpose for the Reds’ offence here.
After all, he had had .275 average with 26 home runs and 80 RBIs this past season. His was a prominent role in keeping the Reds’ offence aggressive and productive throughout the season.
Keeping the fact in mind, and having the memories of 2008 wherein he won the Silver Slugger Award, Ludwick wants to execute and accomplish more.
“I felt like last year was a good year, but I think we always strive to do better," Ludwick said at a press conference at Great American Ball Park on Monday. "Ultimately, I want to prove that the one year I was an All-Star [in '08] wasn't a fluke and that
I can be an All-Star again.”
If what the team could not do this past season, being eliminated from the National League Division Series, Ludwick wants to make it possible in the coming year– helping the team win the World Series. And he is ultimately confident about the possibility of
it.
“And I think the ultimate goal would be to win a World Series, and that's why I came back here. We have the guys in place."
