Ryan Miller may miss Buffalo Sabres’ next game with lower-body injury
A lower-body injury may prevent Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller from making his next scheduled start against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday, 3 November.
According to Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff, Miller did not suffer a groin injury. However, Miller did participate in a practice on Tuesday, albeit on a limited basis. During breaks in play,
Miller was frequently seen stretching his legs. He did not participate in the team’s workout on Monday.
"I thought he looked okay," said Ruff. “I thought he was also taking it a little bit easy, just to give it a try. I think he’s just trying to find out exactly where he is at."
Miller suffered the injury near the end of a game played against the Atlanta Thrashers on Friday, 29 October. After the practice, Miller said he was trying to keep things simple in order
to speed up the recovery process.
"I felt better than I anticipated," Miller explained. "I was just trying to keep it simple. The main thing is that I want to stay on top of things and keep going with treatment. I want
to play, but I want to be sure that I’m giving the guys the best chance."
The Sabres have gotten off to a rough start in the new season, posting a record of 3-7-2 in their first 12 games. Without Miller in the line-up to guard the net, Ruff would be forced to
start back-up goalie Patrick Lalime. Lalime dropped a 4-0 decision to the Dallas Stars on Saturday, 30 October, and he has failed to register a win in both of his starts.
"We need to win," Miller said of the Sabres’ slow start. "Everyone feels it. We’re all disappointed with our start. We could have been a lot more organized and could have worked together
a lot better as a group in many different situations."
