Ryan Moore claims the title for gaining most victories in the 2012 Royal Ascot meet
It was jockey, Ryan Moore, who was crowned the leading jockey at the 2012 Royal Ascot meet based on his incredible performances. Over the course of the meet, the jockey saddled five winners.
Rider, William Buick, had an equal amount of victories, but it was Moore, who received the honour.
The champion rider, coupled with Simenon, claimed two victories - once in the Ascot Stakes (Handicap) and the second time in the Queen Alexandra Stakes.
The rider also guided, Sea Moon, to victory in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes on 23rd June, 2012, where he defeated the M. Delzangles trained, Dunaden.
Ryan Moore was the one, who guided, Fast Or Free, to a magnificent win in the Britannia Stakes.
However, the highlight of the whole event was when he led, Estimate, to victory in the Group 3 Queen's Vase Stakes over the A.P. O’Brien trained, Athens.
Estimate’s victory holds a special meaning for the jockey, since she is owned by Her Majesty The Queen.
The rider hoped that he could have led, Carlton House, to victory, who lost to So You Think in the Group 1 150th Anniversary of Prince of Wales's Stakes by a margin of 2 ¼ lengths.
He commented:
"You realise how hard it is to ride winners here and I am really pleased with how the week has gone. Simenon has given me two winners, and Sea Moon was very impressive. I was very pleased to see him put in another performance like he did in the Great
Voltigeur.
"Any winner here is good, and the one for the Queen (Estimate) was extra special, even though I'd rather it had been Carlton House."
William Buick saddled winners including Newfangled, Joviality, Fallen For You, Gatewood and Camborne.
The jockey landed all his victories in an excellent manner, and performed brilliantly in the other starts as well. The title of the most victories was icing on the cake for the veteran rider.
The meet began in an incredible manner, with the undefeated, Frankel, claiming the victory in the Queen Anne Stakes, and ended in a brilliant manner as well, when the champion down under mare, Black Caviar landed the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
