Ryan Moore finishes well in the Tour Championship
Ryan Moore carded an even-par 70 in the final round of the Tour Championship, to tie for the third position, on Sunday, September 23, 2012.
The American started off his final round campaign with a six-under par overall score – one behind the 54-hole leaders Brandt Snedeker and Justin Rose.
Moore parred the opening hole and followed it by a bogey on the second hole. A birdie on the sixth hole took him back to an even-par score for the round.
The back nine of the course witnessed him play some good shots, as he earned three birdies on the first six holes. That was a time when he had a great chance of surging to the top of the leaderboard with birdie on two of the next three holes.
However, the spectators saw him play a completely different game. He failed to save the pars on each of the last three holes and lost three shots.
As a result, he slipped down to the share of the third place. His final score at the end of the tournament was a six-under par 274.
“You know, it just came down to the last three holes. They're tough golf holes, and I didn't hit good shots on them,” he said. “So they'll sneak up on you really quick if you don't put them in the right spots, and unfortunately, that's what got me”.
The former world number one Luke Donald was another player who recorded the same tournament score and joined him on the leaderboard.
Despite melting down in the final moments of the tournament, Moore was pleased with his overall performance. According to him, he putted the ball well compared to his past few performances on the PGA Tour.
“Really, a good week. I've been feeling good about my game really for the last few weeks. Started putting the ball a lot better the last few weeks,” he said. “I was excited to kind of get in the mix, and at least make it a little interesting there for a
while”.
Moore now plans to keep the momentum going into the rest of the tournaments this year and the 2013 PGA Tour season.
