Ryan Moore opens Fall Series with a magnificent 61
Ryan Moore is back in the action that too in the city of his choice, Las Vegas. Moore is basically from Tacoma, Washington but he decided to settle in Vegas. This has proved to be a good decision, as his game has taken another step towards success.
Only last weekend, he was inducted in Las Vegas Golf Hall of Fame and on Thursday, he shot a magnificent round at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
The 29-year-old opened up his round with six birdies and an eagle just after 10 holes at TPC Summerlin. It was to be a historic run, until he arrived on the 17th hole of the day, when he three putted on the par-3.
At the end of the day, it was a course record from the Las Vegas resident. His 10-under 61 was a course record.
This is not the first time that Ryan Moore has come up with strong performances. In the FedEx Cup Playoffs, he had top-10 finishes.
"I had no idea that was the course record, so that's nice," said Moore, who played collegiately at UNLV and has three top-25 finishes in six starts in Las Vegas.
He continued, "I've just been playing good, solid golf lately. Just kind of keep hitting the ball solid and giving myself opportunities. On a golf course like this I'm probably more comfortable. I've played it more this year than any other coming into it”.
It is a great achievement, considering the fact that he started from the back nine. The back nine is tough, especially at TPC Summerlin, when there are no winds.
"On a golf course like this and playing in these greens are reasonably soft and rolling nice on top of that. So it's one of those days that you just keep putting it in play," Moore said.
For Moore it was just one of those days, where you just get in your groove and keep going.
By shooting 61, Ryan has matched his lowest round on the PGA Tour. Last year, Hunter Haas also shot 61 in the second round at Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
