Ryan Moore strikes six wins on Thursday
Veteran rider Ryan Moore has established himself as the strongest candidate for the jockeys' title by securing six brilliant victories on Wednesday, July 25th. Moore, who has won two graded events so far this season, stretched his tally to 87 by adding half a dozen victories at Lingfield-Sandown. He is now 12 wins ahead of his nearest pursuer, Richard Hughes.
The experienced jockey started off his day with a comprehensive victory in the Toteexacta Your Better Value Forecast Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Lingfield. In the 7-furlong class 6 meeting, he rode the 5-2 co-favourite, Great Run, to an easy triumph.
Ted Durcan kept making things messy with Labienus, but Moore retained his advantage till the finishing line, grabbing the top rank by three lengths. It was just a beginning for the big man. He continued his good work to guide Sir Michael Stoute’s charge, Zenaat, to the top spot in the Thakeham Homes Franklins Gardens Maiden Stakes (Div I).
It was a surprise win, as Zenaat was not carrying the highest odds. Under the talented jockey, the 7-1 chance made a fantastic finish to upset the 2-5 favourite, Mashaari, in the class 5 contest.
The third victory came to Moore, when he mounted Scottish Vespers brilliantly in the Thakeham Homes Franklins Gardens Maiden Stakes (Div II). On a standard track, the expert rider did not face any trouble whatsoever to take the 13-8 favourite to a convincing win.
Henry Streeter Ltd Handicap saw him riding Hannibal Hayes in a great fashion. It was a very close contest, as Brandywell Boy was not much behind. Yet, Moore did not lose his confidence in the dying moments of the race and consequently, notched up the first place by a head’s distance.
After showing plenty of good work at Lingfield, Moore carried forward his excellent work at Sandown. In the class 5 Molesey Nursery, he steered Danz Choice to an outstanding victory over Dream Maker.
The skilful rider completed his journey with a superb success in the class 4 Racing Post Form With Totepool Mobile Handicap. Under Moore, Jacob Cats performed fabulously, bagging the top prize by one and a quarter lengths. Moore is in very good form at the moment, and has earned £1,990,068 so far this season.
