Ryan Moore wins the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open
Ryan Moore carded a five-under par 66 in the final round of the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, to bag the second PGA Tour title of his career, on Sunday 7, 2012.
The American was tied for the first position with Jonas Blixt and Brendon de Jonge, entering the final round at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas.
Blixt did not have a good day with his clubs and he only managed to post two birdies against a lone bogey to get out of contention. He settled for the third position, at the end of the tournament.
On the other hand, de Jonge and Moore kept on battling against each other, until Moore took the outright lead with a birdie on the 16th hole.
Right from the beginning of the final round, Moore displayed a stunning game on the course. He carded four birdies against two bogeys to reach the turn with a two-under par score.
The Zimbabwean, in the meantime, also signed his scorecard with the same score, as he recorded three birdies against a lone bogey through nine holes.
The 11th and the 13th hole witnessed both the players register birdies to remain on top of the leaderboard.
The American added another birdie on the 16th hole, against de Jonge’s par putt, to move ahead. He took the sole lead, which he retained till the end of the tournament. At the end of the four rounds, Moore had a 24-under par tournament score.
“The last couple of days were tough,” said Moore. “I was shot for shot with Brendon, and he was playing some great golf. I was able to make a birdie down the stretch when it mattered to hold him off at the end”.
“He was playing great and he was hitting the ball really well, and he was making putts,” Moore said.
“I tried not to get too wrapped up into what he was doing really for the last two days. I just tried to keep my head and just keep hitting my golf shots, and playing the golf course how I wanted to play it”.
