Ryan Murphy seizes Men’s 100m backstroke gold – 2012 GSC Summer Invitational
Ryan F Murphy of BSS-FL seized gold medal of the Men’s 100m backstroke on last day of the 2012 Gator Swim Club Summer Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday June 5.
The 16-year-old Murphy remained dominant over his supporters and served notice of his talent by snaring the top position of the discipline. He faced no trouble in securing the crown of the 100m event and reached the finishing end in first place.
He stayed marginally ahead of his challengers from the start of the event and rushed his way towards the finishing end with the timing of 54.98 seconds.
The champion was followed by Ryan S Lochte of DBS-FL, who stayed 0.32 seconds apart and stepped on the medal rostrum for second position of the discipline by clocking an effort of 55.30 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Ben E Hesen of PACE-FL, who stayed 0.97 seconds apart and sprinted his way towards the finishing end with the timing of 56.27 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Conor J Dwyer of LFSC-FL, who was almost 0.75 seconds behind and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder with the timing of 57.05 seconds.
The 23-year-old Dwyer was chased by Preston R Jenkins of BSS-FL, who was only 0.17 seconds slower and posted a time of 57.22 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth position of the backstroke event was obtained by Sebastien D Rousseau of GSC-FL, who stayed 0.12 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 57.34 seconds.
Similarly, Rousseau remained 0.98 seconds faster from Jeb D Halfacre of LAS-FL, who managed to secure seventh position of the discipline by posting a time of 58.32 seconds.
Last position of the event was obtained by Alexander J Katz of SYS-FL, who remained 0.53 seconds away and hit the finishing wall as eighth position holder with the timing of 58.85 seconds.
The championship came to an end after the conclusion of all planned events while the position holders raked medals and accolades for their commendable efforts at the medal ceremony of the championship.
