Ryan Raburn performs the magic yet again – MLB Spring Training News
Ryan Raburn is asserting himself as the most exciting hitter in Detroit Tigers’ mighty batting lineup this season. Not only is he a great striker of the baseball, he also has the ability to play his natural game in pressure games. He is down to earth and
friendly and above all, he always sees great room for improvement in his swinging technique.
The 30 year old displayed some high quality pitching skills in a Grapefruit League game on Tuesday, March 13 against Washington Nationals to impress his managers and coaches. Showing his composure and character at the Space Coast Stadium in Florida, he blasted
a crucial home run off former team mate Edwin Jackson. Raburn went 2 for 4 and he drove in three runs to help the Tigers secure an easy 6-3 win.
“It’s the best I’ve felt (this spring),” Jackson said. “The results (were) not necessarily the best, but it’s spring training. We get caught up in results in spring training, when spring training is a time where you’re getting ready for the season. That’s
what we’re out there doing. First game I had a walk. I’m not going to go kill myself.”
Earlier this week, he hit a towering home run to help the Tigers tie with Philadelphia Phillies in a thrilling contest. Tigers’ hitting coach Lloyd McClendon was very pleased with he saw from the striker and he praised Raburn’s hitting abilities in a post
match interview.
“And that’s important. I think this guy’s got a chance to put up some big numbers. And if he can put two halves together, we may have something. His confidence level is certainly at an all-time high,” McClendon said.
Leading in home runs and RBI’s in Grapefruit League, Raburn will now be hoping to maintain his sensational form in the upcoming seasons.
Raburn plays for the Tigers as a utility player but if he continues to hit this well throughout the season, it would not be surprise to anyone if the Tigers offer him a full time role in their batting lineup. It will be interesting to see if he lives up
to Leyland’s expectations.
