Ryan Raburn shines as Detroit Tigers defeat Chicago White Sox 14-4 - MLB Update
Detroit Tigers’ utility player, Ryan Raburn had a tremendous day with the bat as he went 4-for-5 with an average of .243 and hit three RBIs including three runs in the Tigers’ 14-4 win against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago on September
12.
In the first inning, White Sox scored one run to get a 1-0 lead. Dayan Viciedo was ground out towards third base and Juan Pierre posted the first run for the White Sox. Paul Konerko moved to third base and A.J. Pierzynski occupied second base to end the
first inning. Tigers smashed three runs during second inning to take a convincing lead while White Sox batters made one run to cut their deficit 3-2 at the bottom of second inning.
Jhonny Peralta struck a two-run homer to left-field and Victor Martinez scored a single run. Raburn hit a solo homer towards left-field to post the third run for Tigers. On the other hand, Alejandro De Aza posted a single run for the White Sox when Gordon
Beckham was grounded out to short-stop position.
Tigers raised their lead 5-2 by blasting two runs at the top of third inning. Delmon Young scored one run when Alex Avila was ground out to second base. The second run was taken by Miguel Cabrera when Peralta singled off centre-field. Young drove a single-run
shot to right-field and Austin Jackson scored one run during the fourth inning to give the Tigers a 6-2 lead.
During the fifth inning, Tigers led off 8-2 when Avila and Raburn both scored two consecutive runs to lift the potential of their team. Sixth inning went completely in favour of the Tigers as they smashed six runs to advance their lead 14-2. Ramon Santiago
scored one run when Cabrera singled off to left-field. The second run was taken by Young when Martinez bunted a single-run drive towards right-field.
Cabrera contributed one run when Avila singled off right-field. Raburn drove a single-run shot to left-field and Martinez added the fourth run. The last two runs for the Tigers were taken by Raburn and Brandon Inge when Santiago doubled to right-field. White
Sox third baseman, Brent Morel homered towards centre-field to reduce his team’s lead 14-3 at the bottom of seventh inning.
Morel struck another home-run during ninth inning and ended the game 14-4. However, Tigers led off the three-game series 1-0 after defeating White Sox comfortably.
