Ryan Rhodes on his way to Mexico to face Saul Alvarez – Boxing news
The Sheffield light middleweight, Ryan Rhodes, is on his way to Mexico as he aims to snatch the World Boxing Council’s light middleweight title from the 20-year-old Saul Alvarez in his backyard of Guadalajara.
Ryan ‘Spice Boy’ Rhodes, who has won 45 of his 49 fights with 31 knockouts, reckons he has the tools to beat his 14-year younger opponent in the ring. He believes his experience and power are good enough for him to clinch the title.
Rhodes’ trainer David Coldwell has also claimed his fighter can easily see off the young kid. He told the media he has been watching Alvarez every night and according to him, Alvarez makes a lot of mistakes and lacks experience.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Ryan without a doubt has got the capability to knock this kid out.”
He added, “I'm watching him every night, and the more i'm watching him the more I see his mistakes. The fact that he's such a young Mexican sensation kind of works in our favour. He's got this youthful exuberance where he wants to go out there and demolish
every guy he fights. He's just won a world title, it's a massive occasion and I think he'll want to bash Ryan to bits.”
Coldwell remarked if things do not go in favour of Alvarez from the very first round, he is going to get frustrated, which will become a cause of his defeat.
He also stated, “He's a well-schooled boxer, he really is. He turned pro very young, but looking at the fighters he's fought, he's never fought anyone over 10st 11lb, anybody who can punch as hard or is as fast as Ryan Rhodes, so I think he's going to be
in for a bit of a shock.”
Let’s see whether Ryan Rhodes can really clinch the title from the Mexican, who has won all of his 36 fights with 26 knockouts in front of his home crowd.
